October 22nd, 2009 - Sad Demise – Aunty Hema
“Dirty Pig” she used to yell at me. I would run miles away from her when I had done a mistake. How ever, over years I fell in love with her style of teaching mathematics. I was so impressed that I took private classes from her during my last year in school. Aunty Hema was a legend and is responsible for a lot of learning I have had in school especially with Mathematics and Physics which wasnt really the easiest of subjects for a Not-So-Studious kid.
Today I heard of her demise from juniors in school. It seems she underwent a heart attack and bid good bye to this complex world. We last met her in 2006 during the great Get-together of our school. I cannot forget her for ever and am sure none of you can ever.
She wrote on my Autograph book “Think like a man of actions and act like a man of thoughts“ – I am trying hard dear Aunty!
On behalf of every CFTRI Alumni, I pray that may her soul rest in peace.

Dirty Pig! Stupid Ass!! These were not scoldings.. these were the uttering of a teacher who cared for her students. She used to feel miserable when we made silly mistakes.
+1 to your thoughts Jay, though we were quite repulsed at her style of teaching mathematics initially, she was a person who made me fall in love with the subject and was responsible for my “not so bad” marks during 10th!
RIP Aunty Hema… You were one of the best teachers and you would continue to be in our memories forever!!!

This is one of the saddest days in my life. I had the pleasure of having her as class teacher, math and physics teacher. I went for private classes too. I always used go to the classes with one eye open ( at 6.00 am) but never said anything. She had a very special place in my heart. I hope I was able to meet her expectations.
May her soul rest in peace.

Day are gone a long way but never forgot a person like Aunty Hema. She has been a good mentor, indeed it’s a very bad news that she is no more but surely can tell that she will always be remembered for the way she has thought and mentored.
Still remember the way she used to care and never the less sudden burst of her anger and of course the main thing the way we used to enjoy at her tuitions.
May her soul rest in peace.

All the memories of a person seems to be back,
can’t imagine why is that,
the ways we used to stare at her
thinking how much knowledge she has?
those anger outbursts, scolding just couldn’t take that,
but understand late, which was a very good act,
what she has given us for long 10 years,
lets pay it back as prayers for her soul in peace.

I can never forget you Aunty Hema. I adored your style of teaching and i remember the stories we got to hear as well. You would end up having tears of joy when you laughed hard at a joke. I know you are relieved of all pain now…..all i can say is we all miss you and will love you forever!
I am shocked to hear this news!

What a wonderful teacher and a human being she was. Aunty Hema was a disciplinarian which I realized much later, how important a trait it is to be successful in whatever you do. Those outbursts, which one didn’t see rationale then-were well intended. Saluting a great teacher who chose a very noble profession and led a well contented life. Aunty Hema – We will remember you for a long time.
“The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book. ” Aunty Hema was surely one such teacher – May her soul rest in eternal peace.

This is very sad indeed… Wonderful teacher (although I was always scared of her at school!).. Can’t believe its been over 18yrs since I last met Aunty Hema .. Seems like yesterday .. Correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t think she ever became the principal. Arguably the best principal CFTRI School never had !!
She will live in our memories forever
May her soul rest in peace

Sumana: Just when time was right for her to become the Principal – she moved out and joined the Lions School in Gokulam where she was indeed the principal.

I remember Aunty Hema not as much for her Math but for being an inspirational figure for me. When in 8th or 9th, I was successfully participating in many debates, GK competitions etc. One day she called me to the side and said “Siddharth, you are going up like a meteor. Make sure you stay there”. Words I have never let go of. Aunty, wherever you are, you have the undying affection and gratitude of generations of your “children”. RIP.

Sad news, a person with great command and a hearty laugh. One thing is you don’t want to see her angry..
The last time I saw her, she had the same hearty smile and I wish that is what she takes with her.

Got the sad news very late !
Had read somewhere that
A teacher affects eternity:
he can never tell where his influence stops…
Aunty Hema shall remain in our hearts forever !
May her soul rest in peace.

Funnily enough , I am now a neighbour to one of the principals of CFTRI in Bangalore. While we were chatting about the school two people stood out, Aunty Parvathy and Aunty Hema. RIP , Madam

Aunty Hema….. I think ours was the batch that she not only taught Math, but was also the class teacher for the longest consecutive years….. from the 5th to 10th. All through the years, we knew her to be a tough person, with more than often…”Get out off my class”. I have actually lost count as to the number of times I have been thrown out. But on passing out of the 10th, and at the farewell… tears in her eyes told us the whole story. May her soul rest in peace……
